Power Tip #27

Back

Did you get a Pressure Washer for Fathers Day?

Jun 24/04
We have been experiencing a new phenomenon since the availability of all those low priced Pressure Washers on the market.
People are Power Washing their Lawnmowers and Lawn Tractors frequently. You might think this would be a good practice and cause the life expectancy of your equipment to increase. We have in fact found this to be wrong. We are increasingly finding more and more equipment failures on things that are repeatedly Pressure Washed.
We are finding that the high pressure water is being forced into sealed bearings and cavities that would normally be lubricant filled. This is causing rapid rusting and corrosion to that equipment.
A good thorough equipment cleaning is beneficial once in a while but be careful not to direct the water jet stream at any one place too long.
